Decorative Stonework of the Gothic Revival
DECORATIVE FEATURES as STUNNING ARTWORKS
Architectural Details
The decorative stonework of the Gothic Revival style of architecture, is elaborate and stunningly crafted.
The first four pen and ink artworks were created during a three month Arts Residency, at The Christchurch Arts Centre in New Zealand.
To cheer even the most reserved audience, the buildings themselves offer many dramatic angles and features of intrigue.
I particularly enjoyed creating the fluid textures that define the forms, bringing life to the carved stonework, itself already imitating nature.
The last image is from a building in Cathedral Square. It’s a playfully titled ‘Victoria’s Secret’.
